Challenge

In order for people to have access to justice in domestic violence cases, it is important for defendants to attend court. However, many people in New South Wales do not attend court.

Insight

A simple message makes it clear when and why defendants need to attend. It can also highlight that the court appearance could be used as a turning point.

Approach

We developed a simple reminder message to domestic violence offenders to encourage them to attend court.

Result & Impact

We increased the number of people attending court. This had the flow-on effect of speeding up case finalisation times and the number of court appearances that defendants had to make
