Intervention

We use a deep understanding of human behaviour to design interventions that solve your real-world problems.

Use evidence to help people change

We use deep understanding of human behaviour to design interventions that help our clients solve their problems. In nearly every market and policy area, we have developed impactful interventions, from behaviourally-informed communications to innovative services, products and policies – and everything in between.

For example, we’ve designed taxes to incentivise manufacturers to reduce the sugar content in drinks, created interactive chatbots to reduce intimate partner violence and modified urban roads to reduce speeding.

All of our interventions are grounded in years of experience and quality evidence from academic research. However, unlike in academia, we can produce and test a novel intervention for you in days or weeks rather than months.

Co-designing with communities

We believe that those closest to a problem are critical to developing solutions. That’s why we invite our clients, their communities and other important groups to join us in the intervention design process.

Co-design can take the form of interactive workshops where we introduce participants to behavioural principles and facilitate activities to develop interventions, or design sprints, where we collaboratively create an intervention within a few days.

Prioritising and piloting the best solutions

In the intervention design process, we give you a range of proposed solutions. Then, we can assess their potential impact and feasibility. We do this by comparing them against similar prior work and running simulations to predict their effects at scale. Then, we narrow down the top candidates for you to take forward.

Prototyping and pilot testing

The best way to know if an intervention will work before it’s scaled is by piloting an early version. We regularly build prototypes of promising products and services and test them with their target audience. As we learn more, we refine.

Our team is adept at human-centred design methods, like user testing and focus groups, which optimises our approach to piloting. Methods like these give you a nuanced understanding of how people are behaving – and thinking – about a potential solution.

In all, this iterative process rapidly improves an intervention before wider launch, maximising resources and helping ensure a strong return on investment.
