Leah Everist

Senior Advisor, States

Leah is a Senior Advisor in BIT’s New York office, where she leads BIT’s portfolio of collaborations with US States. She has led work with teams around the country on using behavioral insights to improve the inclusiveness and effectiveness of programs that serve the public, designing for challenges such as vaccine hesitancy, participation in routine cancer screenings, use of evidence in local governance decisions, chronic condition management, and boosting subjective wellbeing, among others. She recently led the development of a training on conversational receptiveness, which has now been used to temper divisiveness and built trust across a variety of settings.

Leah initially joined BIT on the Asia Pacific team, where she spent two years working with the New Zealand government on health, housing, and economic inclusion projects, including COVID-19 messaging and communications.

Prior to joining BIT, Leah was one of 18 Americans to be awarded a Luce fellowship, and spent a year working on community preparedness and social inclusion in Nepal’s disaster risk management sector. She holds a BSPH in Health Policy and Management from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina.
