Richard Thaler

Professor of Behavioural Science and Economics at the Chicago Booth School of Business, Co-author of 'Nudge'

Richard Thaler is a Professor of Behavioural Science and Economics at the Chicago Booth School of Business. Richard is best known for his behavioural economics and finance studies, as well as his work on the psychology of decision-making which lies in the gap between economics and psychology.

These insights underpinned his most famous work – Nudge (2008) – in which the concepts of behavioural economics are used to tackle many of society’s major problems. It was this work in particular that led Richard to help set up the Behavioural Insights Team in 2010 (and the reason it quickly became known as the ‘Nudge Unit’).

Richard has been a trusted academic advisor to BIT ever since, regularly travelling to London to spend time with the team.
