Steve Vanderherberg is the Vice President of Community Programs at WoodGreen Community Services and has been with the organization in various roles since 2008. He leads a team responsible for newcomer services, financial empowerment, employment, workforce development, and volunteer services, supporting over 13,000 clients annually.
With over 20 years in the community sector, Steve is a passionate advocate for client-centered approaches that empower individuals toward meaningful employment, financial stability, and strong community connections. He has extensive expertise in program design and delivery and holds an Honours Bachelor of Science and a Master of Management of Innovation from the University of Toronto.
Steve serves as the Toronto Regional Director on the board of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) and oversees the backbone management of the United Financial Empowerment Collaborative of the Greater Toronto Area. Working alongside his team and partners including the Behavioural Insights Team, he has led innovative research aimed at improving supports that help social assistance recipients successfully transition into sustainable employment.
As a Senior Affiliate, he will provide strategic advice and support to advance BIT Canada’s ability to generate impact in social services.
