Improving‌ ‌test‌ ‌results‌ ‌with‌ ‌texts‌ ‌to‌ ‌parents‌ ‌

Challenge

Parents are often unclear about what their children are studying, making it harder for them to provide support.

Insight

We used timely prompts to help parents better support their child’s learning. This approach is based on the tried-and-tested idea in behavioural science that if people are given reminders at the right time, it can help to them take action.

Approach

We texted parents to let them know about their child’s upcoming maths test and prompt them to give support with the child’s revision.

Result & Impact

The intervention increased test performance by the equivalent of one month’s extra schooling. Parents and pupils said they liked the approach.
