Dr Kathryn Atherton

Senior Advisor

Kathryn is a Senior Advisor in the education team. Prior to joining BIT, she was a postdoctoral neuroscientist at the University of Oxford and a primary school teacher. Her postdoctoral work involved a large-scale cluster-randomised controlled trial investigating the impact of an in-school physical activity intervention on cognitive function in children. She holds a first-class Bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology, a Master’s degree, with distinction, in neuroscience and a Wellcome Trust-funded doctorate from the University of Oxford. Her doctoral thesis concerned the neural mechanisms of learning and memory.
