Rachel Coyle MBE
Global Managing Director
Rachel is Global Managing Director at BIT. In addition to leading the work of the team internationally, Rachel has a strong personal interest in BIT’s work on evidence-based policy, institution building, effective leadership, security, international development and anti-corruption. She leads much of BIT’s international work on social innovation, including organising around mission-driven approaches, and supporting partners developing innovation strategies and building innovation teams.
Rachel is also a trustee at the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, a regional charity that supports the restoration of broken ecosystems and the return of missing wildlife in the UK countryside. With more than 60 nature reserves and nearly 30,000 members, the Trust is a major steward of the natural world in South East England.
Prior to BIT, Rachel led a due diligence and investigations business at an international risk consultancy, supporting well-evidenced, ethical decisions relating to fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption, terrorism and security threats, and other social and governance concerns. Rachel started her career as a civil servant at the Ministry of Defence in the UK where she worked in national security policy, cyber security and intelligence analysis. In 2013, she was awarded an MBE for Services to Defence.
Rachel holds an MA in Chinese Studies and an MPhil in International Relations, both from the University of Cambridge. She has lived and worked in the UK, South Africa and China.
