“Teaching is an art, not a science”. How can we convince teachers it might be both?

There has been an explosion of new evidence on ‘what works’ in education. The only problem is, many teachers don’t engage with it. Instead, teachers often trust their own experience or advice from more experienced colleagues. How can we help teachers, and other practitioners, to also develop their practice using rigorous experimental evidence?

This session brings together (current and former) teachers, teacher trainers, policymakers and advocates of evidence based change in other fields to forge a path towards encouraging evidence based practice. Professor Becky Francis, UCL Institute of Education, Dr Raj Chande, BIT, Dr Ben Goldacre, University of Oxford and Harry Fletcher-Wood, Ambition Institute discuss evidence based practice in education.
