Deelan Maru
Policy Advisor to David Halpern, President & Founding Director of the Behavioural Insights Team
Deelan is BIT’s Policy Advisor to the President & Founding Director. He supports the President across the full range of policy areas BIT works on.
Before taking on this role, Deelan was a Policy Advisor working across consumer and business policy. He led the financial services workstream within BIT’s Gambling Policy and Research Unit. He was also Private Secretary to Nida Broughton & Eva Myers, Directors of Economic Policy, between May 2022 to March 2023.
Prior to joining BIT, Deelan was a General Management Trainee on the NHS Graduate Management Scheme. Deelan has also previously worked as a Chartered Tax Advisor at Deloitte and Ernst & Young.
Deelan holds a Masters degree in International Public Policy from UCL, and a Bachelors degree in Law & Business Studies from the University of Warwick.
