Project Crewe aimed to close Children In Need cases and divert them from being re-referred or escalated by offering more intensive support early on. This innovative model was tested using a randomised controlled trial, in which young people were assigned either to receive the Project Crewe working model (the ‘treatment’ group), or the business as usual local authority service (the ‘control’ group).
